Dreamjar Fables.
Dreamjar Fables is a side project that shows up on our timeline every now and then. It usually begins when a story pulls us in a little deeper than expected. We start reading, following threads, opening links, and before we know it, we’re already making things. Festivals often act as the trigger. While celebrations happen around us, we’re usually doing what we know best. Making things, and learning something new along the way.
This chapter took shape during Janmashtami.
Que sera, sera.
The story that held our attention this time was the one of Krishna and Kansa. It begins with a prophecy. Kansa, the king of Mathura, is told that his sister Devaki’s child will one day be the cause of his death.
What follows is fear, control, and years of waiting. Every move meant to prevent what’s coming only pulls the story closer to it. As we spent time with the story, one thought kept returning. Whatever will be, will be.
As the work progressed, the story kept returning to one place instead of moving ahead. The confrontation.
Kansa and Krishna standing opposite each other. Power meeting calm. Fear meeting certainty.
A moment where nothing moves, yet everything that matters has already been decided.
Where this chapter stopped.
What we shared from this chapter are parts of a larger story we had started building. The intention was to take it all the way through, from beginning to end. Sketches were made, scenes were planned, and the narrative slowly began to take form. Somewhere along the way, it remained exactly that, 'in progress'. Instead of forcing an ending, we shared what existed. The confrontation. The tension. The moment where everything that matters has already been set in motion. So this chapter of Dreamjar Fables exists as it is. A fragment. An unfinished thought. A pause in the middle of a story that already knows how it ends. In a way, that felt fitting. A story about fate, karma, and inevitability ending up unfinished. Whatever was meant to be shared, got shared. The rest stayed where it was. Que sera, sera. Whatever will be, will be.
